Ipoh Trooping Event

On Sunday afternoon the 25th October 2009, the 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost gathered at Ipoh Parade for a charity trooping event.

Kicking-off at 1:00pm, the event saw Darth Vader, along with his minions comprising of the ever popular Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Royal Guards, Imperial TIE Pilots, as well as a new addition to the team - one Imperial Crewman - scour the grounds of the iconic shopping mall in search of Rebels and of course, for some friendly-mixing with the general populace.

With generous contributions from various businesses and organizations (see accompanying list of donors and sponsors), the 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost troopers managed to raise an impressive sum amounting to RM5,000! The said monies were then donated to Loyal & Semangat Home.

Movie Carnival 2009

It's back! The annual Movie Carnival event returns, and this year it was held at the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall. The 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost is no stranger at Movie Carnival events and this year, Darth Vader and his minions will once more be making their presence felt.

Among the characters present on the 6th and 7th include iconic Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, TIE Fighter Pilots, and Malaysia's first ever Biker Scout!

One of the main highlights of the event was the "Heroes and Villains' March", in which members of the 501st also took part in: a full-walk around the perimeters of the Sunway Pyramid shopping complex. The sight of so many armored troopers plus characters from other movies and videogames was all it took to stop people in their tracks and make traffic slow down a little as they tried to catch a glimpse of this rare event.

As Movie Carnival 2009 came to a close, the 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost bid its willing audience goodbye and we'll be back again the next year!

Mybloggercon Awards 2008 Night at Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya (MALAYSIA), 22 NOVEMBER

The 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST is invited by the Malaysian bloggers (Chinese medium) - mybloggercon.org or mybloggercon.com to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Malaysian Chinese Blog Award 2008 night. A teaser titled the "Mystery-Guests of 1122” was posted at their website on 6 November 2008 to herald our forthcoming appearance.

We’ve extended our invitation to the Rebel Legion Malaysian Outpost, who has accepted our invitation to join us to troop in this event.



Prior to the opening ceremony we will be involved a charity fundraising – phototaking session where the donations will go the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia, and will be announced on the award night itself.

SPCA World Animal Day

The 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost celebrated World Animal Day 2008 held at Tower Terrace of Malaysia’s iconic Kuala Lumpur Tower with our first charity related trooping for the year. Together with our Rebel Legion Malaysian Outpost friends, whom we invited for this joint trooping, we raised RM360.40 (approx. USD100.16) in donations collected for the beneficiary : Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor.

In recognition of our participation, SPCA Selangor accorded the honor to the COs of the 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost and Rebel Legion Malaysian Outpost to present the Official “Animals Matter To Me" signature placard, that was signed by the SPCA Chairperson (Christine Chin) and CEO of KL Tower Management, YBHG Dato' Zulkifli bin Mohamad. This signing Officially launched the World Animal Day 2008 event and the “Animals Matter To Me" campaign.

In our course of trooping at Tower Terrace with our assigned volunteers carrying the SPCA Donation Boxes, we were greeted by interesting sights of pets (mainly dogs and a small number of cats) of various breeds and sizes having fun socializing at this Pet Friendly event, just like their human owners. The Stage area was filled throughout this event with performances on "Artists For Animals" by local artistes, demonstration by animal experts, dances by cheerleaders, capoeira, Hip-hop dancers and interactive storytelling that have been organized to add excitement to this biggest World Animal Day event in Malaysia.

The 501st at THE CLONE WARS Special Premiere Screening

On 12 August the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST joined by our friends from the 501st SINGAPORE GARRISON will be celebrating the Special Premiere screening of THE CLONE WARS movie in true intergalactic style at GSC, MidValley Megamall. We will bring forth an awesome range of STAR WARS characters from the Original Trilogy - Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper Commander "Salji", Imperial TIE Fighter Pilots, an Imperial Navy Officer and an AT-ST Driver, from the Prequels - Emperor's Royal Guard and from the Expanded Universe - Royal Guardsman "Kir Kanos".

This trooping mission marks the beginning of the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST's series of planned troopings in conjunction with the release of THE CLONE WARS movie in Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei.

"The Clone Wars" Movie

The 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost will be answering our call of trooping duty as Lucasfilm's preferred Imperial Costuming Group at The Clone Wars movie premieres in Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei. We are excited about it as this is the first time our 501st Outpost is part of an Official Star Wars Movie Premiere. (The 501st Malaysia-Brunei Outpost wasn't formed yet when Revenge of the Sith premiered back in May 2005).

Our trooping missions are part of a larger worldwide celebration throughout the month of August 2008 with our 501st Legion brothers and sisters from the US, South and Central Americas, UK, Europe, Asia and Oceania. Our detailed costumes and props help our character appearances to bring the magic of Star Wars alive to the multitudes of local movie going fans, young and old alike.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be released worldwide on August 15th 2008.

501st Legion-DROID HUNT at a Glance

On 31 May and 1 June, the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST successfully executed our very first DROID HUNT Game during Movie Carnival 2008, held in 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Peninsular Malaysia. This event brought our Malaysian and Brunei members together to troop side by side for the first time since the activation of this Outpost on 23 January 2006. The combined strength of 10 troopers on each day realistically created the excitement of the Galactic Empire hunting down "Rebel sympathisers" in the crowd who possessed "DROIDS" that might harbor valuable data to the Rebel Alliance.



The 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST's on-ground actions during our first DROID HUNT are documented in 12 YouTube video clips with 5 clips covering 31 May and another 7 clips covering 1 June 2008. Over 170 pictures taken during this 2 day event can be viewed in our 501st-DROID HUNT, Movie Carnival 2008 Photo Album.
